Community Nutrition, Bogor Agricultural University: plus and plus

At first, why must plus and plus? Why not plus and minus?
It is because:
1. This discipline is my favorite, and my dream.
2. Everything feels so warm and fun here (except drinking smoothie while running.. #choke).
3. mm, lemme think 'bout the best from my 1000 list of good things in Community nutrition....

(it will take some time to wait for the third reason, and 4th reason, and 5th reason, etc. So, let's skip the reason for the post title, shall we? ^_^)

Community nutrition is a discipline based on community, and nutrition. That's why it called community nutrition (lol). I learn to focused to the nutrition for the human to maintain their health, nutrition for recovery, and food biochemistry. You will shocked when you first come to our faculty by the activity of the students. Every single man busy with their activity.
But I remind you, busy and careless is different. In every occasion, when I meet someone (though I not know who are them..) I can always make a chat with him/her. We'd like to discuss everything, from lecture to manga; from Tobacco Mosaic Virus to Homo sapiens; from our bedroom to Mars. And of course, you can work together to finish a homework. It's a pleasure when you know you're not alone in this world, right?
Secondly, it is my goal since I was kid, that I'll continue my mother to be the next RD. What is RD? Is it the abbreviation for my lecturer Mr. H. drh. Rizal Damanik, MRepSC, PhD?
No, absolutely not. I do want to be like him in knowledge (especially about linking Bataknese culture with nutrition discipline, it's so cool with that torbangun, Sir!), but RD here is the abbreviation of Registered Dietitian. Registered dietitian is:
"A registered dietitian is a food and nutrition expert who has met the minimum academic and professional requirements to qualify for the credential "RD." In addition to RD credentialing, many states have regulatory laws for dietitians and nutrition practitioners. Mengapa saya memilih IPB?

Part I - Introduction to IPB

Saya diperkenalkan ibu dengan IPB sejak lama, seingat saya ketika saya masih kindergarten, masih imut-imut gitu. Saya dan adik diajak ibu ke IPB. Saat itu, ibu kuliah di jurusan Teknologi Pangan dan Gizi, Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian. Gedungnya masih tetap sama, di Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian sekarang, namun suhu udara di situ jauh lebih dingin. Pagi hari masih diselimuti kabut tebal sampai kira-kira jam 10. Pohon-pohonnya juga masih sangat banyak saat itu. Perbedaan lain adalah, selain udaranya, saya mengira gedungnya masih jauh lebih besar daripada sekarang...

Besoknya sampai seterusnya ibu selalu mengajak kami ke IPB. Ibu kuliah dari pagi sampai menjelang siang. Selama itu, saya dan adik diasuh oleh seorang bibi. Kami diajak jalan-jalan mengelilingi IPB, dan kalau sudah merasa capai ia biasanya membelikan kami es krim sesuai yang dipesankan ibu. Tak jarang juga bibi mengajak kami mondar-mandir di sekeliling kelas ibu. Kami senang sekali karena IPB luas dan banyak tempat sembunyinya!

Kalau bibi terlalu capai, sambil menunggu ibu menyelesaikan kuliah, kami pernah memanjat pagar-pagar pembatas di lantai 2 (bayangkan saja paniknya ibu ketika melihat kami berdua hampir jatuh!). Selain itu, kami pernah masuk ke salah satu ruangan yang banyak kacanya. Ruangan itu berisi banyak gelas yang bentuknya aneh-aneh. Saya bertanya-tanya ketika itu, bagaimana caranya minum dari situ yah? Memegangnya saja sudah sulit karena sempit sekali! (sekarang saya tahu, gelas itu bernama tabung reaksi).

Tak berapa lama kami pindah ke Kalimantan Selatan, mengikuti bapak pindah kerja. Setelah kami pindah ke Kalimantan Selatan saya berpikir, sepertinya enak sekali sekolah di IPB. Suhu udara di Kalsel tinggi, dengan kelembapan yang tinggi namun dengan pasokan air bersih yang minim. Niat itu selalu saya pelihara, sampai suatu ketika seseorang yang memberikan niat itu pergi. Ya, ibu tersayang kami - aku, adik, dan bapak - meninggal karena sakit.

Saya akan melanjutkan mimpi ibu di IPB, sebagai ahli gizi. Saya berniat mencari tahu penyakit ibu, dan cara mencegahnya lewat gizi. Saya akan berhasil, saya janji pada diri sendiri.
